I have a 2 year old pom and i’ve never taken him to the groomer. he’s never had a haircut because poms don’t need them. i just trim around his ears and paws when it gets long, but other than that shedding takes care of it. I give him a bath in the tub with puppy shampoo a couple times a month. They’re pretty easy to take care of just make sure you brush them out frequently to cut down on shedding and tangles!
i hope that you do choose to get a pom. they are really great dogs. most poms don’t mind getting baths and being brushed, they love the attention. I even blow dry my pom to make her hair more fluffy. grooming a pom is little to no work, they don’t require hair cuts just a little trim around the ears and paws when you think that the hair is to long. i don’t even have any trouble cutting my little girls nails. a pom will really brighten up your home and make it feel warm.
every dog needs to be groomed no matter what breed it is. a pomerainian is a bath dog . you don’t shave the hair unless the dog is matted. if the dog gets matted then you take it to a groomer to get taken care of. i see poms get shave all the time.
