Is it wrong to exclude the dog?

Dónde Están asked:

I was visiting two of my friends, and playing rummy. They had a dog and two cats.
The dog was compelled to sit in the other room and lie on a rug, while the two pampered darling cats got to climb on the dining room table.
Well, personally, I prefer cats, but this seemed really wrong. Poor Duke was excluded from all the fun. We could even hear him making that whining sound that dogs make.
Dogs got feelings, too. Just like anybody else!

Why did he have to go to the other room?? dogs are very social and happiest when around a happy enviornment like that ecspecially. That must have been very sad for him:[ you;re right they do have feelings..you should really say/have said something.

Of course it’s wrong to exclude the dog. They are obviously cat lovers who probably don’t deserve the dog!

Perhaps Duke was in training. Perhaps they have learned the hard way as to how he would behave if he is included. I had a dog that insisted that company would throw a toy or play tug of war and was somewhat disruptive to the conversation.

I would include Duke. However, I’m more concerned about why the cats are allowed to climb on the dining room table.

well, yeah it’s kind of mean to leave out the poor ol dog. But I don’t think your friend’s mom would be happy to see the dog on the dining room table… lol

First of all, try to control a cat from going anywhere they want to go. This is why Cats have such a spoiled reputation. They are not dogs and will not behave like one. Other than booting their butts outside, you would not have been able to stop them from going anywhere in the house.

The dog is being trained to behave around company. It seemed mean, especially with the cats doing their thing, but, Duke will be a happier dog in the long run knowing his boundaries. He could care less what the cats were doing, he was more worried about not being able to check out a new person in the house.
